Acne prevention tips for the beauty conscious

Almost everyone must have had acne at some point of time or the other. Acne prevention and how to stop acne from coming back are questions that most people might have wondered about. In some cases people experience regular flare up of acne, but adolescence is the period which gets affected by acne. Teenagers today are too much engrossed in acne prevention because acne by itself spoils their looks. Most cases of acne are caused by hormonal imbalance. Some people believe that diet and other factors like sexual activities and cleanliness affects the formation of acne. This is usually a myth, and it must be noted that food itself does not cause acne. There is a possibility that acne can be increased by the intake of certain food items to which people may be allergic. If you experience severe acne after food intake check if you ate kelp, a kind of seaweed.

You must have seen the advertisements salt manufactures give about iodized salt. Although it is good to have a regular intake of iodized salt, it can trigger acne formation. Normally, food does not cause acne, but there is a possibility that people might be sensitive to certain kind of food stuff. To make sure acne prevention steps are working what you need to do is test. That’s right. Test and see if any food stuff is affecting your acne formation. Keep away food stuff which you suspect may be giving you an acne boost. After a week or so re introduce the food into your daily diet. Does acne come back? If so you have a candidate to avoid.

Acne formation can also be triggered by hereditary genes, experts argue. If you had recently taken steroids, lithium, a high amount of iodinated food or anticonvulsants chances are that you are already hit with the acne patch. Some medications can also cause acne. Some acne prevention medicines themselves flag off further acne formation. If you see any medicines, that you take, which increases your acne, then I suggest you study the components of the medicine. Next time you use another medicine and end up with the attack of acne, it might be time to figure out the common component which causes them. Try to get substitute medicines, which do not have the allergic components the next time your doctor prescribes you something.

Foods that help to prevent acne.

As I have told earlier, normally food does not cause acne, unless you are allergic to it. In order to prevent acne and get a glowing, healthy skin, it is advisable that you have a healthy diet. Other factors that help to prevent acne are good sleep, sufficient exercise (30-45-minutes a day), not smoking and non consumption of alcohol. Try not to expose yourself to too much sunlight. I know they are a great source of vitamin D, but remember that I did not tell you to isolate yourself from the sun. Try to expose yourself less and that will help a lot.

Prevent acne by eating a lot of vitamin A and C rich foods.

To build and maintaining a healthy skin, it is necessary that you have a good intake of vitamin A and C. Acne prevention can be done by sebum control. Sebum production is reduced by beta carotene, which is converted into vitamin A by the body (Research is still going on in this field). Be sure to eat a lot of green vegetables, berries (Not the acai berry scam you see on the internet), pepper, cabbage, broccoli, potatoes and melons to get rid of those annoying pimples.

Vitamin B6 is a definite yes for acne prevention.

Acne formation is affected a lot by the hormonal imbalance. Vitamin b6 helps to control the imbalance and helps you get rid of acne. To prevent acnes from popping up, be sure to eat a lot of fish, poultry, whole grains, bananas, nuts and leafy greens.

Zinc should not “sink” to the bottom of your chart when trying to prevent acne.

Most experts in the acne prevention research field believe that zinc can help fight acne. Advanced healing and hormonal normalization are two factors these experts believe, makes zinc a worthy candidate for getting rid of pimples. Find Zinc in seafood, poultry, Yogurt and milk.

Acne prevention and self treatment.

This is a definite no-no. Most people tend to overdo it by taking a high intake of vitamins and minerals. Remember that too much of anything is not advisable.

Are all Vitamins good to prevent acne formation?

Definitely NOT!!! Heard of vitamins B12? Studies have shown that these vitamins can increase pimple formation and not suppress them. Furthermore, you can have hair loss symptoms and flaky skin if you take in too much of vitamin A. You are also at risk of osteoporosis with excess dosage of vitamin A.

Thanks for these useful information. I made a mistake of squeezing my pimples. Bad thing. Never should have done that. The real problem is that these are very irritating and resisting myself from squeezing them is very difficult for me

Interesting article but a bit of a problem here…
One paragraph says Vitamin B6 is great for fighting acne, the last paragraph says quite the opposite though =\

I see the mistake. It should be Vitamin B12 only. Thanks for pointing out the mistake. Also there is a school of thought that Vitamin B6 does at times accelerate pimple formation. A lot of research is going on in these areas.
