Are you obese? What is your B.M.I the index to know a person obese or not? Body mass index [B.M.I] is the pointer to determine if you are obese or not. Obesity is a major problem concerning people who tend to prefer fast food and have no time to cook themselves. It also is a threat for people who prefer junk foods. This article is all about obesity, calculating BMI and keeping your weight under control.

How to calculate B.M.I

Divide your weight in kilograms with height in meter squared. The result tells you where you stand in the health chart. If your Body Mass Index [B.M.I] is 18.5 to 24.99, it shows you are not obese and is definitely within the healthy range.

  • If your body mass index is 25 to 29.99 you are in the borderline group. Do start checking on your diet and do exercise regularly.
  • If your B.M.I is between 30 and 34.99, you are obese. Do carefully plan your diet and exercise regimen.
  • What if you have a B.M.I of 35 to 40? Obesity has started damaging your body in a good scale. Prevent further adding pounds to your body. Don’t encourage obesity as it puts your life at risk. Still it’s never too late. You need individualized attention and a detailed introspection about your present dietary intake before suggesting a good diet regimen. You do need a personalized check up.

Obesity is like a magnet. It does invite all sorts of diseases from arthritis to heart attack, from diabetes to liver cirrhosis. Being obese means you are over burdening your entire body system. The more you gain weight the more stress you do put on your own knees to support you on your legs. It makes you more vulnerable to fractures. Obesity leads to ageing of heart in the sense that it valves and muscles gets weak and tired due to over work.

What to do and what not to do for obese people

There is no panacea for ensuring you a long life if you do things on a priority basis. Don’t go for unsystematic diets. . It won’t help you. There are people who go for unsystematic crash diets and the craving after stopping the dieting will make you in double the size within a week of dieting. This happens because people are trying to skip meals and starve. Fasting is positive promotion of health and it’s in no way similar to starvation. Taking a resolution that you are not going to touch foods with any sort of fat content …. That too won’t help.  Fats are source of energy and it is like a cocoon in wrapping around the internal organs and thus protecting them.

  1. Fasting is a highly systematic way of allowing your body to get cleansed. There are set rules to start and end fruit diet or juice fasting or raw diet fasting.
  2. Have ash gourd juice, watermelon juice without adding sugar. Other than these two, do have plenty of fruits and avoid their fruit juices.
  3. Take time to have your food. Do chew well. Don’t take food in hurry. Follow correct time in having food.
  4. Avoid watching TV to while having food.
  5. Avoid oil fried items, red meat.
  6. Do take sprouts and fruit salads in place of snacks.
  7. Many healthy snacks are already in the blog which will be really useful for you.
  8. Do yoga and meditation for your body and mind. There is nothing called spot reduction. By controlling diet you are preventing your body from further gaining weight. But it’s the role of exercises that would burn your fat.

Morning walk will help toburn fat. Evening walk will help in preventing fat deposition in your body. Walking jogging skipping will all help you to reduce your weight. But to get a toned body do club them well with a systematic exercise regimen.
